John Lewis Launches Bid to Tackle Cost of Living Crisis

Retail giant John Lewis has launched a new salvo in the Christmas gifting battle, promising to help customers tackle the cost of living crisis with a series of initiatives.

The retailer is freezing the prices of hundreds of its most popular gifts, including toys, electricals, and homewares, until Christmas Eve. It is also offering a “buy now, pay later” scheme on all purchases over £50, allowing customers to spread the cost of their festive shopping over four months.

The move comes as families across the UK are facing a sharp rise in the cost of living, with inflation at its highest level in 40 years.

John Lewis said it was determined to make Christmas "as affordable as possible" for its customers.

"We know that many families are struggling with the cost of living crisis, and we want to do everything we can to help them celebrate Christmas without breaking the bank," said a spokesperson for the retailer.

The retailer's price freeze will apply to a range of popular gifts, including toys from Fisher-Price, Barbie, and LEGO; electricals from Dyson, Shark, and Samsung; and homewares from John Lewis & Partners, Habitat, and Cath Kidston.

The "buy now, pay later" scheme will be available on all purchases over £50 made in-store or online.

Customers will be able to spread the cost of their purchases over four months with no interest or fees.
