Rolfes on Hoeneß rumors: "Nice theory"
Transferhammer at Bayern?
There are persistent rumors that Bayern Munich is planning a sensational transfer. According to consistent media reports, the German record champions are said to be interested in signing Serge Gnabry from Arsenal.
Rolfes denies contact
Bayer sporting director Rudi Völler has now commented on the rumours. In an interview with "Sport Bild", he said: "These are nice theories. But that's not an issue for us at the moment."
Völler also emphasized that he has not yet had any contact with Bayern about a possible transfer of Gnabry. "There is no contact with Bayern," said the 62-year-old.
Gnabry's contract with Arsenal runs until 2023. According to media reports, Bayern are said to be willing to pay a transfer fee of around 50 million euros for the German international.
However, it remains to be seen whether Arsenal will let Gnabry leave the club. The Gunners are said to be planning with the 26-year-old for the coming season.
A transfer of Gnabry to Bayern would be a real sensation. The winger has been one of the best players in the Premier League in recent years. In 141 competitive games for Arsenal, he has scored 51 goals and provided 30 assists.
Gnabry also played for Bayern from 2010 to 2016. However, he was unable to establish himself in the professional squad and was loaned out to Arsenal in 2016. In 2018 he joined the Gunners permanently.
Whether Gnabry will actually return to Bayern remains to be seen. However, the rumors about a possible transfer are likely to continue for the time being.
