White led the Sun to the WNBA semifinals in 2021, but the team missed the playoffs this season with a 14-20 record.
Sun Struggled With Injuries in 2022
The Sun were without All-Star guard Jasmine Thomas for much of the 2022 season due to a knee injury. Forward Alyssa Thomas also missed significant time with a back injury.
The Sun finished the season in 10th place in the WNBA standings.
White Thankful for Her Time in Connecticut
White released a statement thanking the Sun organization and the fans.
"I am grateful for my time in Connecticut and for the opportunity to coach such a talented group of players," White said.
"I wish the Sun all the best in the future."
Sun Expected to Begin Coaching Search Soon
The Sun are expected to begin their search for a new head coach immediately.
Several potential candidates include former Las Vegas Aces head coach Bill Laimbeer, former Atlanta Dream head coach Nicki Collen, and former Indiana Fever head coach Pokey Chatman.
Laimbeer Considered Frontrunner
Laimbeer is considered the frontrunner for the Sun job.
He led the Aces to the WNBA championship in 2022 and has a career coaching record of 399-265.
The Sun are hoping to find a coach who can lead them back to the playoffs and contend for a WNBA championship.
