Rune and Humbert running hot
The clay court swing continues on the ATP Tour, with two tournaments taking place this week. The Barcelona Open, a 500-level event on clay, features a number of top players including Stefanos Tsitsipas, Daniil Medvedev, and Rafael Nadal. The Marrakech Open, a 250-level event, also on clay, features a number of up-and-coming players including Holger Rune and Ugo Humbert.
Rune, a 19-year-old from Denmark, has had a breakout season so far in 2023. He has won two titles, including a Masters 1000 event in Miami, and reached the final of another Masters 1000 event in Indian Wells. He is currently ranked No. 10 in the world.
Humbert, a 24-year-old from France, has also had a solid season so far in 2023. He has won one title and reached the final of another. He is currently ranked No. 43 in the world.
Both Rune and Humbert are in good form heading into this week's tournaments. Rune won his first match in Barcelona on Tuesday, defeating Albert Ramos-Vinolas in straight sets. Humbert also won his first match in Marrakech on Tuesday, defeating Joao Sousa in straight sets.
