Marriage and Family

After graduating from college, Bette met the love of her life, John Gallagher. They were married in 1952 and spent 65 wonderful years together. They raised three children: Mary, Anne, and Michael. Bette was a devoted wife and mother, always putting her family's needs before her own.

Bette's passion for education led her to a rewarding career as an elementary school teacher. She taught for over 30 years, inspiring countless young minds. Her students adored her for her patience, warmth, and ability to make learning fun.

Obituary Details

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care in Augusta, MI. The funeral Mass will take place the following day, October 30, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Kalamazoo, MI. Interment will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society in Bette's memory.

Bette Gallagher will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. May her soul rest in eternal peace.
