Hana Wakimoto Holds onto Lead After Second Round of LPGA Tournament in Japan
Wakimoto Shoots 67 in Second Round to Maintain One-Stroke Advantage
Hana Wakimoto of Japan held onto her one-stroke lead after the second round of the LPGA tournament in Japan on Saturday, shooting a 67 to finish the day at 10-under 134.
Nasa Hataoka Lurks One Stroke Behind
Nasa Hataoka, also of Japan, is lurking one stroke behind Wakimoto after shooting a 68 in the second round. Hataoka is a two-time major champion and will be looking to challenge Wakimoto for the lead on Sunday.
Sei Young Kim of South Korea is tied for third place at 8-under 136 after shooting a 69 in the second round. Kim is a former world number one and will also be looking to make a run at the lead on Sunday.
Wakimoto Looking to End Title Drought
Wakimoto is looking to end a title drought that dates back to 2019. She has not won an LPGA tournament since the Toto Japan Classic that year.
Wakimoto will be looking to hold off the challenge of Hataoka and Kim on Sunday to win her first LPGA tournament in over three years.
Final Round to be Televised on Sunday
The final round of the LPGA tournament in Japan will be televised on Sunday on the Golf Channel.
The tournament is being played at the Taiheiyo Club Karasuyama Course in Tochigi, Japan.
