Indiana Fever hire Lin Dunn as new coach
Fever hire first-time head coach since 2001
The Indiana Fever have hired Lin Dunn as their new coach, the team announced Tuesday. Dunn, who has been an assistant coach with the Fever for the past two seasons, replaces Pokey Chatman, who was fired in August after 10 seasons with the team.
Dunn is a former WNBA player and coach who has been involved in the league for over 20 years. She was a two-time All-Star and won two WNBA championships as a player with the Detroit Shock. As a coach, Dunn has led the Seattle Storm to three WNBA championships and the New York Liberty to one WNBA championship.
The Fever are coming off a disappointing season in which they finished 12-20 and missed the playoffs. Dunn will be tasked with turning around the team and making them a contender in the WNBA.
"I am excited to be the next head coach of the Indiana Fever," Dunn said in a statement. "This is a great organization with a rich history, and I am looking forward to working with the players and staff to bring a championship to Indiana."
The Fever will begin their 2023 season on May 19 at home against the Atlanta Dream.
Dunn is the first-time head coach hired by the Fever since Anne Donovan in 2001.
