Brandon Moreno Wins UFC Fight Night 202 In Edmonton

Moreno Defends Flyweight Title Against Kai Kara-France

Namajunas Withdraws From UFC 274 Due To Weight-Cutting Issues

Brandon Moreno successfully defended his UFC flyweight championship against Kai Kara-France in the main event of UFC Fight Night 202 on Saturday night in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

Moreno won the fight by unanimous decision (49-46, 49-46, 49-46), extending his winning streak to four fights since losing the title to Deiveson Figueiredo in June 2021.

The fight was a close and competitive affair, with both fighters having their moments. Moreno was able to land the more significant strikes, while Kara-France was able to control the fight on the ground at times.

In the end, it was Moreno's striking that proved to be the difference, as he was able to land the cleaner and more powerful shots.

With the win, Moreno improves to 20-6-2 in his professional MMA career, while Kara-France falls to 24-10.

In the co-main event of UFC Fight Night 202, Rose Namajunas was forced to withdraw from her scheduled fight against Carla Esparza due to weight-cutting issues.

Namajunas was reportedly several pounds over the strawweight limit on Friday and was unable to safely cut the remaining weight in time for the fight.

As a result, Esparza was awarded a TKO victory without having to fight.

Namajunas is expected to reschedule her fight against Esparza for a later date.
