A Kalamazoo Pioneer Passes

Bette Gallagher, a lifelong resident of Kalamazoo, Michigan, passed away peacefully on October 22, 2024, at the age of 95. She was surrounded by her loving family and friends.

Bette was born on July 20, 1929, to William and Helen Gallagher. She grew up in the Milwood neighborhood and attended Kalamazoo Central High School. After graduating, she worked as a secretary for several local businesses before starting her own family.

Bette married her husband, John, in 1952. Together, they raised three children: Michael, Kathleen, and Patrick. Bette was a devoted wife and mother, and she always put her family first.

In her later years, Bette enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was also an avid reader and gardener. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Funeral Arrangements

A funeral mass will be held at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Kalamazoo on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at 10:00 AM. A visitation will be held at the church on Friday, October 25, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Kalamazoo Public Library.
