Xabi Alonso's first game in charge of Bayer Leverkusen ended in a comfortable 4-0 win over VfB Stuttgart in the Bundesliga on Saturday.
The Spaniard, who replaced Gerardo Seoane last week, saw his new team take the lead through Moussa Diaby in the 39th minute.
Jeremie Frimpong doubled the advantage just before the hour mark, and goals from Paulinho and Adam Hlozek in the final 20 minutes sealed the victory.
The win moved Leverkusen up to 12th in the standings, while Stuttgart dropped to 16th.
**Alonso was pleased with his team's performance:**
"I'm very happy with the win," he said. "We played well and created a lot of chances. We could have scored more goals, but I'm happy with the three points."
**Stuttgart coach Bruno Labbadia was disappointed with his team's display:**
"We didn't play well enough," he said. "We made too many mistakes and we were punished for them. We need to improve our performance if we want to avoid relegation."
**Leverkusen will next face FC Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga on Tuesday, while Stuttgart will host FC Augsburg on Friday.**
