Arteta: PGMOL row over Gordon goal is in the past

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta insists the row over Anthony Gordon's disallowed goal in the 1-1 draw at Southampton is in the past and has not affected his relationship with the Professional Game Match Officials Board (PGMOL).

The goal was ruled out by VAR for offside, but replays showed that Gordon was onside and should have been awarded the goal.

Arteta was furious with the decision and made his feelings known to the referee, Michael Oliver, after the game.

However, the Spaniard has now moved on from the incident and says he has no issue with PGMOL.

"I don't want to talk about it anymore. It's in the past," Arteta said.

"I have a very good relationship with PGMOL and I don't want to damage that.

"We all make mistakes and we have to move on.

"The most important thing is that we learn from our mistakes and try to improve.

"We can't change the past, but we can learn from it and make sure that it doesn't happen again."

Arteta's comments come after PGMOL chief Howard Webb admitted that the decision to disallow Gordon's goal was a "human error".

Webb said that the VAR official, Lee Mason, had made a "clear and obvious error" in ruling out the goal.

Webb has since met with Arteta and Arsenal to apologize for the mistake.

Arteta has accepted the apology and says he is now focused on the future.

"I appreciate Howard Webb coming to see me and apologizing for the mistake," Arteta said.

"It's important that we move on and focus on the future.

"We have a big game coming up against Manchester City on Saturday and we need to be fully focused on that."
