Luis Alonso has called for his Real Madrid team to improve defensively after they conceded two goals in their 3-2 win over Real Betis.

The victory moved Madrid top of La Liga, but Alonso was unhappy with the number of goals they conceded.

"We need to be more solid at the back," said Alonso. "We can't afford to be giving away cheap goals like we did today."

Madrid have now conceded seven goals in their last three games, and Alonso believes that they need to improve their concentration levels.

"We need to be more focused and more disciplined in our defending," he said.

"We can't afford to switch off for a moment, because we will be punished if we do."

Madrid will have the chance to improve their defensive record when they face Sevilla in the Copa del Rey on Wednesday.

Alonso is likely to start the game, and he will be looking to help Madrid keep a clean sheet.

If Madrid can improve their defensive record, they will be well-placed to challenge for the La Liga title.
